On December 6th, 2023, the Housekeeping Trainee B2 students embarked on an enriching industrial visit to Hotel Poinisuk, nestled in Laitumkhrah, Shillong. This insightful trip was organized under the LTI MindtreeFoundation project at the Shillong centre, with Miss Genesis Najiar guiding and accompanying the students.

The visit commenced with a warm welcome from Ms. Jerine Nongkynrih, the adept Human Resources handler at the hotel. Ms. Nongkynrih conducted an engaging orientation, acquainting the students with the hotel's diverse departments, encompassing the Front Office and more.

Subsequently, Ms. Jerine Nongkynrih led an extensive tour of the hotel, covering key areas such as the Banquet Hall, Multi-cuisine Restaurant, Bar, Kitchen, and Laundry area. This immersive experience allowed the students to observe and absorb the workings of each department firsthand.

A standout moment was the detailed elucidation of various room types, from singles to doubles. Ms. Nongkynrih adeptly showcased the art of bed making, the nuances of a Shower Cubicle, the arrangement of a Vanity Counter, and the management of a Minibar. The interactive session encouraged students to actively participate and inquire, fostering an environment of engaged learning.

The students, brimming with enthusiasm, actively engaged throughout the tour, posing thoughtful questions. Ms. Nongkynrih's readiness to address their queries created a positive and interactive learning atmosphere. The visit culminated with students leaving the hotel with heightened interest and a renewed zeal for pursuing careers in the hospitality industry.

The industrial visit to Hotel Poinisuk proved to be an invaluable learning expedition for the Housekeeping Trainee B2 students. Not only did it expand their knowledge base, but it also ignited a profound passion for future endeavors in the vibrant realm of hospitality.
